dear vidder!!!

this is my first festivids and i am SO excited but also idk really what to say here!! i have a generic dear creator letter that i reuse for fannish exchanges with a bunch of likes/dislikes/etc but it's mostly geared towards podfic and fic. tbh i am an extremely baby vidder and rly just think vids are so cool and fun and anything you make for me i will treasure!!

here's some more info about the fandoms i requested:

dimension 20

i love this show! my fav seasons are the unsleeping city, fantasy high and misfits and magic, but i also love the seven and of mice and murder. any / a mixture of those would be great! i wouldn't mind references to pirates of leviathan in a fantasy high themed vid, but please no escape from the bloodkeep or a crown of candy.

dimension 20 rpf

i love the core cast of the show so much (brennan, lou, ally, emily, zac, murph, siobhan) because they all clearly like each other so much and have such great chemistry together BUT i love the guest stars on the shows i mentioned above as well! the seven especially have incredible energy.

breaking fast

this film was so affecting for me as a queer muslim. i identify so strongly with hassan, and also with sam - i loved mo and his relationship with kal, but the ensemble cast was so lovely and well drawn that i'd love something that wasn't just pairing-focused.

for a good time call

my pet tiny fandom!! i love this film so much. i DO wish it committed to the lauren/katie bit and made them explicitly girlfriends, but i also love their ~~platonic~~ relationship and how crucial it is to the entire narrative of the film. in general i love relationships that aren't clearly platonic or romantic, i LOVE romantic friendships, i love friends who have sex and it really isn't romantic they just love each other a lot, so really however you wanna interpret lauren&katie's relationship is good with me!

unraveled (polygon series)

bdg is so delightful to me. i love that weird little dude so much, and i loved unraveled so much - i'm kind of tangentially a video games person, so his meta approach to video games is EXACTLY what i'm about. and i just love his energy! it compels me! whatever you wanna do here i'm on board.

dirty computer

i listen to this album all the time still and i think about this universe so much. there's so much to explore with the worldbuilding, but also just so much to enjoy with the visuals we already have? and janelle monáe's other music videos are also: great, so if you wanted to include stuff from those (and/or other things tessa thompson's been in) that would be totally cool with me.

comments

dear writer! thank you for writing me fic! i'm sure i'll love it regardless of what you do, because you're making me a thing and that's really great! also i like a whole bunch of different things, see: my bookmarks.

i have a generic letter i reuse for exchanges here which has my Do Not Wants, Please Warn Fors, stuff that's not a dealbreaker but slavoj-zizek-meme I Would Rather Not, and then a whole bunch of stuff i like. please feel free to disregard all of it except the DNWs, and i would appreciate a heads up for anything that's a PWF.

some more Generic Thoughts:
-if you want to write something set in ~These Unprecedented Times~ go for it, my one request is that we pretend that pandemic hockey is not happening and has never happened, for my sanity. feel free to write about events from this current season or last year's playoffs, just, idk. pretend COVID isn't a thing. pretend it was but we got it under control already. pretend the games were delayed until things were safe(r). whatever you wish.

-canon fic is great and cool but if you want to write an AU, please do!!! i have a whole section on my dear creator letter about it

-i have discussion of diets/exercise regimens/body maintenance/weight management/etc as a general Do Not Want and it applies especially much for hockey, particularly re: the intense scrutiny and maintenance of a particular body. obviously, Sports, so i know it comes up a lot, but i'd really appreciate you avoiding explicit details and/or discussion.

-generally i would prefer that non-famous WAGs or family members are not major characters. this isn't a hard DNW because sometimes i'm fine with it, but it's a tricky line for me to define.

-i really do not enjoy power imbalances in romantic &/ sexual relationships and would prefer to have just. none of that. sometimes i am up for subverting inherent power imbalances (eg player/captain, subject of hero worship/hero worshipper) but again, tricky line.

-i love ensemble gen, i love polycules, i love complex and interrelated networks of relationships. i love this especially in hockey with the team dynamics, so if you are moved in this direction i am WITH you.

Carter Hart/Carey Price
-soul...bond??? i just feel like it would be particularly delightful for them
-goalie nesting. i always want more goalie nesting.
-carey does roping. that is all.
-long-distance friendship/flirtationship/fuckbuddyship/relationship
-anything social media related. the mortifying ordeal of maintaining a snap streak. accidental(?) thirst trap selfies.
-sex bets.

Travis Konecny/Nolan Patrick/Ivan Provorov
-god just any of the ot3 tropes here. there's a section on the dear creator letter for it
-especially: provy and patty are fuckbuddies, then patty starts dating tk and provy assumes the hooking up will stop, but tk is cool with it so maybe not??
-oh i would also love a soulbond au where two of them are soulmates but the three of them are all dating anyway, fuck destiny.
-i'm literally always thinking about how patty and provy won a cup together when they were babies on the wheat kings. what if they had a thing in juniors that they're both totally over, except for how they aren't at all, and tk finds out when he starts dating patty and tries to get patty and provy back together.
-this is an extremely niche prompt but: au where tk is a ranger who does wildlife tours, and patty&provy are the only people who turned up for this session.
-future fic where they're vets taking care of the rookies together
-mutual tender caretaking

Philadelphia Flyers Ensemble/Philadelphia Flyers Ensemble
-this could be like, team orgies, or they're all dating each other in various combinations, or both. both would be GREAT.
-this doesn't have to include like, every single flyer. it is more the Idea of the whole team fucking &/ dating in various combinations that enchants me.
-talk to me about the Logistics. managing this many relationships is hard! is there a google calendar? is there technically a date night schedule but no one remembers to check it/only some people do? do A/B/C bicker over who gets to spend time with D and D's like, sigh, i'm gonna go hang with E, who they aren't dating (or aren't dating YET)
-just give me all the relationship negotiation basically.

Travis Konecny/Oskar Lindblom/Nolan Patrick
-powerpuff line! my heart for an actual powerpuff AU!
-once again, any ot3 trope would delight me
-especially: patty tries to help tk get with lindy while pining, and tk tries to help patty get with lindy while pining
-swords&sorcery fantasy au where they're adventurers
-future fic where they're vets taking care of the rookies together
-mutual tender caretaking

Claude Giroux/Carter Hart
-just gonna quote my letter from last year
-claude telling carter "you're not fucking mike smith out here" murder me
-claude giroux, overgrown child in charge of a team of children, only the responsible one by comparison. smirky angel-faced franchise-saviour venom-mask-wearing certer hert. chaos??? chaos.
-if you wanted to take a veteran/rookie trope and subvert it that'd be ace. if you wanted to write them as just another two players that'd be ace
-i did have a thought about a rookie/veteran kneeling au where carter doesn't get a lot out of kneeling but claude gets a lot out of someone kneeling for him, and when carter realises, it turns into like, a ~topping from the ~bottom kinda thing

Joel Farabee/Shayne Gostisbehere
-i am still goddamn thinking about that picture of ghost choking beezer out. please write me all the fic about it. a kneeling au maybe??
-ghost seems extremely soft and harmless i just feel like he and joel "young beezer" farabee would be delightful together.
-joel dogsitting / joel using ghost's dogs as a reason to keep coming over to hang out

Claude Giroux/Wayne Simmonds
-i got into the flyers after simmer was traded but i'm so emotional about them being vets on the team for so long then being cruelly separated and now simmer's playing for his hometown team and thriving and i just? don't even go here but i have a lot of feelings basically
-breakup/makeup, getting back together after years apart (maybe post retirement?)
-long-distance friendship/flirtationship/fuckbuddyship/relationship
-au where the trade never happened and they're team dads together
-they're both actual dads! i would love fic about them being actual dads together! background relationships with/appearances from their actual wives would be fine in this case.

Joel Farabee/Morgan Frost
-still not over "morgan makes me venmo him just to talk"
-still thinking about that time morgan was kneeling on the ice in front of joel and another flyer WHY didn't i save the picture
-youth pastor dj joel farabee
-would love something where joel is like, performatively horny about morgan as a joke, NOT in a homophobic way but in that way queers can have where we jokingly hit on our pals just because it's fun. at first morgan just thinks he likes the attention (again, not in an obnoxious straight dude way) BUT THEN he realises he just likes joel, who is having a similar realisation about morgan. BUT THEY BOTH THINK THE OTHER ONE STILL THINKS IT'S A JOKE!!

Carter Hart/Travis Konecny
-tk being an absolute pest to carter when he was playing against him in that scrimmage? tell me ALL about it
-equally tell me all about tk tenderly holding carter's helmet after games. they contain multitudes
-monsterfucker carter/monster travis
-oh mutual tender caretaking here too for sure
-king carter/lionheart travis

Oliver "Banksy" Banks/Carter Hart/Andrew "Knuckles" Knackstedt
-i. don't know what to say here whoops
-all you need to know is that banksy is a very zoomy goalie and knuckles is a fighty enforcer type and i simply think it would be wonderful for them to date carter hart.
-i guess it would also be useful to know that they do not actually exist irl. they play for the also fictitious team The Hometown Chinchillas, a team of gay himbo disasters, and i love them.

comments

i took part in this super cool new podfic challenge, voiceteam! it wrapped at the start of june and i've been wanting to do a roundup post about it because it was so much fun, so here we are! pls ignore how many months it has been!

voiceteam, in the words of the mods:

Voiceteam is a Discord-based team scavenger hunt for the podfic community. Teams will earn points for making different voice-based or voice-adjacent creations. Each week in the month of May, teams will get a list of ten point-earning challenges and then will be set loose to strategize, create, and have fun!

i am extremely bad at discord, but this challenge sounded so cool, so i signed up anyway, and proceeded to have a wonderful time! and make loads of stuff! with a bunch of lovely people! it was great!!! i think our team was matched on wanting/having capacity for variable levels of participation and it really worked out, so i'm super grateful to the mods on that one.

works created for the challenge

you can find the ao3 collection for the challenge here - it doesn't have everything because some stuff was only posted on discord, but there's still so many cool things. this challenge really encouraged SO much creativity, and i think having the semi-public space of the discord really helped with that, because you get to have an audience while still having the privacy of like a locked community.

you can also find my team's collection here. the teams were originally named for colours, but one of the first challenges was to come up with our own team name (or choose to stick with our assigned one but i don't think anyone did), and my team decided on peas in a pod! yue drew lovely art for it for another challenge, which was to make a fanwork of our team mascot. which, what a cool challenge, tbh.

honestly all of the challenges were so cool and inspiring! i particularly enjoyed the music week because i love music and i really want to take forward some of these ideas into the way i approach making fanworks and doing fandom in general. for now i want to indulge my vanity and talk about all the stuff that i made because i made a lot!!

things i made

podfic cover for a teammate

d&d character sheets for characters in a podfic of mine where they play d&d

podfic cover for a teammate

cookies as wish fulfilment (something the characters in the podfic would enjoy) for a teammate's podfic

bath bombs as wish fulfilment (something the characters in the podfic would enjoy) for a teammate's podfic

podfic cover for a teammate

a multivoice podfic poem

song covers in character as characters from various podfics

a chapter of a les mis podfic

a welcome to night vale filk

a fanmix for a teammate's podfic

a google translate podfic

a knight's tale multivoice podfic

another knight's tale multivoice podfic

a poirot multivoice podfic

an avengers multivoice podfic

a pomological rpf podfic

an audio trailer for one of my podfics

a derry girls podfic

a the half of it podfic

another the half of it podfic

started a long-for-me podfic which is now done!

started another long-for-me podfic which is not done yet welp

a good omens multivoice podfic

commentary on one of my podfics

commentary on another of my podfics

other team's stuff that i took part in:

a good omens multivoice filk

comments

giving this a go - pick a day of the month and ask me to talk about a thing. i'm only doing odd days because having sensible expectations of myself is good actually!! i've also picked a few days for myself because any excuse to go on about shit i care about, right?

( right. )

cool things that are happening now or soon:

remixapod where podficcers submit their podfics for a writer to remix into a fic, which i'm super excited to participate in on both sides.

out of the auditary a fest for podfics of non-traditional fic formats, e.g. meta, poetry, declarations from city councils about sports mascots, notfic/chatfic, etc. i want to make ALL THE THINGS for this. i have already recorded a fake webseries episode fic of mine, and there's some meta i want to dig up, and i definitely wanna do some poetry, and and and i'm SO jazzed for this.

a fest for friendship!!!! i LOVE stories about relationships and always want more about Good Friends Being Good Friends, so hopefully i'll get round to filling some prompts and i'm definitely gonna leave a bunch.

hpwlwbigbang where rule 63 is not allowed which :/ but it's not a Rule 63 Doesn't Count As Femmeslash stance, just seems like they want to focus on oft-overlooked women characters of HP fandom. i've been turning over a ginny-centric idea that it'd be nice to have a deadline for so i actually write it, but it was kinda harry/ginny-leaning so we'll see if i can rework that i guess. who else do i ship ginny with?????

comments

the best month is upon us. i'm going on holiday for ten days on wednesday so idk how much i'll be able to Produce but i recorded a podfic i'm gonna try and finish editing before then we'll see how it goes.

it's not strictly femmeslash but the awesome ladies podfic anthology is running again. i absolutely will not have time to make anything but i hope lots of people do!

clockwork_hart1 is hosting a femmeslash ficathon here which i've already left a bunch of prompts for. maybe i'll even get round to writing some!

i would like to post some f/f fic this month. i posted a femslashficlets fill like a week ago and i have solid ideas for three other prompts from that table rn, one of which is girl!gansey/girl!ronan because i had raven cycle feelings out of nowhere the other day welp.

i made a twitter thread of femmeslashable webseries recs and reminded myself of a bunch of old feelings, so probably i'll try and write fic for them for 100fandoms.

i'll be 25 on the 16th and i am determinedly not freaking out about it. ageing is fine. continuing to exist is fine. it's all basically fine.

comments

so the creative things i do are writing, podficcing and making podfic covers, but my processes for the last two are pretty standard?

for podfic, i pick a story, i record the story, i edit the story, i post the story. if i'm gonna incorporate music or sound effects, i usually realise during editing, and i lump all that in the editing process.

when it comes to cover art, i only make a cover if i have a solid concept for one. from there it's gather the pictures, arrange them in some way, mess with the contrast/colouring/etc, then fight with the text so it looks like something i won't hate. i have a massive library of fonts that i've collected over the years, so this last step has been a lot easier recently.

writing, though. hoo boy. ( it's a whole ass mess )

comments

I Hunger For Validation Okay

when you lay me down you'll bury only bones [podfic] (welcome to night vale, canon-compliant, carlos/cecil)

i think this is my favourite podfic i've ever made, ever? it's a beautiful soft heartfelt story about love and friendship and identity and like, night vale weirdness, and reading it aloud was just an absolute joy. it just kind of flowed out of me, easy as anything, which is such a Good podfic feeling, when it goes like that. and i'm just really happy with the end product.

Starstruck (another word I never learnt to pronounce) (merlin, stardust au, elena/morgan + a shit ton of others)

this isn't, like. it's nearly six years old now, and last time i reread it i cringed, but it still made me feel a lot. it started because i wanted to write a fix-it fic for morgana, but it kind of ballooned into approximately every feeling or grievance i ever had regarding this cursed show. so it's maybe not good, but it's very very important to me. maybe it could be to you too.

coax the cold right out of me (the 100, college/coffee shop au, monty/miller, bellamy&miller, minor bellamy/raven)

in my notes i described this as a self-indulgent mess and wow is that true. i wrote this in the middle of a depression/anxiety spiral in my final year at uni, and i poured an embarrassing amount of that into this fic. but also it's about friendship and soft romo nonsense and taking care of each other and having a bunch of feelings, aka The Leish Brand TM. i've got a bunch of really lovely comments on this, so it seems it's not just relevant to my specific interests! maybe.

i'm gonna do the not-self recs one next! i have too many things i want to rec, so i'm gonna figure out a sensible way to structure it. maybe a theme? idk we'll see.

comments

i wrote way more than i expected to this year, but not as much i wanted!! alas. 19 fics isn't so bad for me.

my favourite: bring me to life (the adventure zone)

this was so fucking hard for me to write, because Writing Is Hard, and i'm not 100% satisfied with how it turned out, but i'm still really proud of it. it's a pretty nonsense premise (hot fuzz if hot fuzz had necromancers) and i'm not sure i got the tone right, but i wrote a bunch of jokes that made me laugh, SO. also it was one of my pod_together projects, and pumpkinpodfic made a fucking amazing podfic out of it. seriously!! if you are at all interested in this story do yourself a favour and listen to it instead of reading it.

most kudos: reflect more than light (friends at the table)

i have no idea how this ended up being so popular?? it's a college/figure drawing au for a relatively small fandom, and there isn't even any sex! there's barely any making out! i am really fond of the concept though, so i'm glad it resonated with other people i guess.

( chaaaaarts )

( goals? dare i have any? )

comments
