growlery: raven reyes from the 100 (light of my life)
[personal profile] growlery
i wrote way more than i expected to this year, but not as much i wanted!! alas. 19 fics isn't so bad for me.

my favourite: bring me to life (the adventure zone)

this was so fucking hard for me to write, because Writing Is Hard, and i'm not 100% satisfied with how it turned out, but i'm still really proud of it. it's a pretty nonsense premise (hot fuzz if hot fuzz had necromancers) and i'm not sure i got the tone right, but i wrote a bunch of jokes that made me laugh, SO. also it was one of my [community profile] pod_together projects, and [archiveofourown.org profile] pumpkinpodfic made a fucking amazing podfic out of it. seriously!! if you are at all interested in this story do yourself a favour and listen to it instead of reading it.

most kudos: reflect more than light (friends at the table)

i have no idea how this ended up being so popular?? it's a college/figure drawing au for a relatively small fandom, and there isn't even any sex! there's barely any making out! i am really fond of the concept though, so i'm glad it resonated with other people i guess.

i have a painfully similar relationship with the 100 that i had with merlin, back in the day. it is terrible! it has killed or horribly abused all my favourite characters! i'm still madly in love with the characters i care about and will probably keep writing about them! i'd like to write more for friends at the table, but i feel a lot less comfy barging into its world/s, so hopefully i can work on that.

i wrote a bunch of gen, huh. i love reading romance, uh, probably obviously from what i podfic, but i find it. hard? to write? idk i like writing about people being good friends and having non-romantic intimacy.

like i said in my podfic roundup post, this makes sense - all the 100 characters i care about are POC and friends at the table characters are largely POC.

writing has been. extremely hard. this year, and i want to approach it a lot more casually. i've signed up for a bunch of challenges, and i'm hoping to fill prompts with like, small/short ficlets that i can bash out fairly quickly. this has already worked! i started a prompt fill as a warm up exercise and ended up writing a 4k fic in an evening, it was fucking ridiculous. how do i harness this writerly energy!!!

i have a ton of wips, of course. notable works i'm hoping to finish:

exchange fic for secret samol (friends at the table)
lucretia/[signet] crossover event (the adventure zone/friends at the table)
a gabe/nate/tyson Thing for [personal profile] clachnaben (men's hockey)
the space bellamy fic i foolishly started posting as a wip and didn't update at all last year (the 100)
bellamy/raven fake dating (the 100)
tea/natalya pwp (friends at the table)
monty/miller where monty is a reluctant incubus (the 100)
my failed yuletide (uh, i guess i can reveal the fandom? to all the boys i loved before)
