2018 in podfic i made

i made 54 podfics last year! that's so much more than i managed in 2017, and i'm really proud of what i was able to create.

my favourite: when you lay me down you'll bury only bones (welcome to night vale)

i, like. this story means so much to me in ways i can't put into words, so i put it into a podfic instead. it's a beautiful, warm, soft story about love and friendship and family and i'm really proud of what i did with it.

most kudos: BUZZFEED UNSOLVED: THE MYSTERY OF THE INFAMOUS GOTHAM BATMAN (buzzfeed unsolved/dc comics)

this is a multivoice where i was the narrator! it's styled as a fake episode of the show, and it's so on point - forzandopod did a fucking fantastic job with the editing.





a lot of these slices represent one or two podfics, and then there's the big fandoms i've been into: the 100 (fucking still), friends at the table, buzzfeed unsolved and men's hockey.



for poly relationships, i marked both multi and the r'ship breakdowns (ie for F/M/M i marked multi, F/M and M/M). kinda disappointed by how much more dudeslash i made than anything else, which is mostly due to how far i fell back into men's hockey.



other/unknown covers like, aliens/robots/grittys. this is a better balance than i was expecting, but a majority of fatt characters are POC, all the 100 characters i care about are POC, and i made a bunch of ryan bergara/shane madej, so.



look at that one 2hr+ podfic i made!! my sweet spot is obvious.



i co-modded podfic_bingo last year, and it was a ton of fun! i'm modding audiofemme now and i want it to be a real hub for women-centric podfic. which, gotta post a theme for the month. gotta think of a theme for the month. welp. (eta: it's up!) i'm also bringing back podbang, the long podfic exchange, so i'll be working on putting that together.

my goal for last year was to podfic An Umbrella Term a Lup&Angus-focused The Adventure Zone fic that is, um. 77k. i was not successful!!! i have never recorded anything longer than like 30k!!!!! i did record a couple of chapters, and i want to finish it this year. we'll see how that goes.

10-20 minutes is definitely my preferred podfic length, too. Managable from recording to posting in one day! xD Actually I didn't think I'd do one of these year in review posts this year, but now I'm kind of curious about my stats and charts. Although otoh I think my M/M stats will be way higher than I want it, too, so >> maybe I will avoid examining my output closely after all >>

You're doing so much modding this year! That's awesome! ❤️ Good luck with the longfic - I've got to get back to my own, too. Even 40k is just so much!
