growlerydear writer!!! thank you for writing a thing for me i'm sure i'll love it!!!! if all this info is overwhelming please feel free to ignore it!!!! personally i get overwhelmed by not having a lot of details so i like to throw out a bunch of stuff that might be helpful. but the last thing i want to do is stress you out!! write something you like and i'll love it, i promise.
so a bunch of this is copied from last year's letter because i'm nothing if not consistent. i also have a generic letter i reuse for exchanges which has my Do Not Wants, Please Warn Fors, stuff that's not a dealbreaker but slavoj-zizek-meme I Would Rather Not, and then a whole bunch of stuff i like. please feel free to disregard all of it except the DNWs, and i would appreciate a heads up for anything that's a PWF.

-i have discussion of diets/exercise regimens/body maintenance/weight management/etc as a general Do Not Want and it applies especially much for hockey, particularly re: the intense scrutiny and maintenance of a particular body. obviously, Sports, so i know it comes up a lot, but i'd really appreciate you avoiding explicit details and/or discussion.
-generally i would prefer that non-famous WAGs or family members are not major characters. this isn't a hard DNW because sometimes i'm fine with it, but it's a tricky line for me to define.
-i really do not enjoy power imbalances in romantic &/ sexual relationships and would prefer to have just. none of that. sometimes i am up for subverting inherent power imbalances (eg player/captain, subject of hero worship/hero worshipper) but again, tricky line.
-i love ensemble gen, i love polycules, i love complex and interrelated networks of relationships. i love this especially in hockey with the team dynamics, so if you are moved in this direction i am WITH you.

-i got into the flyers after simmer was traded but i'm so emotional about them being vets on the team for so long then being cruelly separated and now simmer's playing for his hometown team and thriving and i just? don't even go here but i have a lot of feelings basically
-breakup/makeup, getting back together after years apart (maybe post retirement?)
-long-distance friendship/flirtationship/fuckbuddyship/relationship
-au where the trade never happened and they're team dads together
-playing with the dynamics of them being the old guard and being ~replaced by younger, shinier models. would also be agonising in an AU setting
-i'm not superstitious i just don't want to say the t word because it's Upsetting. if claude doesn't retire as a flyer there is no justice in this world. however. HOWEVER. maybe he ends up on the same team as simmer and it's weird playing with him again, they're not the same people they were three years ago, but claude missed it, missed him, and maybe it's good that things are different. maybe they can find their way to something better.

-i realise this is the perfect setup for power dynamics and i am sorry about it but that is usually a bad time for me!! my ideal vibe here would be like. nate is pissy, worked up, making another bad decision after trying to fight claude fucking giroux in front of his whole team, finding him after the game and asking claude to rough him up some more but this time in a sex way. claude is also pissy, but also intrigued, wants to see what will happen if he gives nate something to throw all that frustration against.

-i love ldr stuff in general. especially if they're good friends but there are Feelings they never got around to dealing with, and they probably never will now, except there's a third person who complicates everything.
-segs totally assumes raff and scott are boyfriends and is deeply confused when he finds out they're not. maybe takes it upon himself to do some matchmaking in the form of flirting publicly with raff, sending pictures of him to scott and talking about how hot he is, pretending to be into raff until it's not pretending any more, and oops he's into scott now too.

-fake dating for extremely contrived purposes. it's my favourite trope and i'm not ashamed. maybe andrea has some kind of press event and it's terrible and she gets hit on constantly by sleazy dudes and she's complaining about it to taryn like, it wasn't so bad when i was with [an ex partner], and of COURSE the only logical thing for taryn to do is offer to be her date for the next event
-another fav trope of mine: pining while fucking. it's cool it's casual they hook up sometimes to blow off steam or when they're between partners and it's easy, convenient, really fucking hot because they know each other's bodies so well by now, so much better than a stranger. it should be enough but it ISN'T they want MORE they have FEELINGS but they are both CONVINCED THIS IS ALL THEY CAN HAVE!!!!
-i love a Queer Narrative TM. i love stories that inhabit different people's experiences, whatever they may be, however messy and ~~~imperfect they are. i love stories where being queer is only good and joyful and unquestioned and never something people could use to hurt you. but i also love to suffer
